ways you can support HCFC
Donate to Our Collection
HCFC strives to collect artifacts that highlight the ever-evolving stories of Freeborn County’s past and present. If you have something you think would round out our collections, please contact us! While we cannot take everything, we are always interested in seeing what you have.
How to Donate an Artifact
-
Contact HCFC to schedule a visit to review your artifact(s) or describe them if a visit is not possible. Please note: Appointments are preferred for all donations. Dropping off artifacts at HCFC after hours is discouraged and may result in items being discarded.
-
If a staff member recommends accepting your artifact donation, fill out a Gift Agreement form. The Gift Agreement legally transfers ownership of the artifact(s) to HCFC.
-
Upon final approval from our Collections Committee and Board of Directors, receive a thank you letter and a copy of the Deed of Gift form for your records.
-
Your donation is accessioned and cataloged, which means the artifacts are cared for to the highest museum and archival standards we can provide, enabling them to be shared and experienced for generations to come. Please note: HCFC cannot promise when, where, or how your artifact(s) may be exhibited in the future.
