FREEBORN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HIRES NEW DIRECTOR

The Board of Directors of the Freeborn County Historical Society is pleased to announce the hiring of Stephanie Kibler as the Executive Director of the Society. Stephanie has made a career out of working for nonprofit membership organizations ranging from health and human services to historical societies. Stephanie has an extensive background in membership development, marketing, programming and fund development.

Most recently, she has worked as the Manager of Meetings and Events with the Steele County Historical Society, Owatonna. Stephanie currently serves as a City Council member in Ellendale, and is on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Ellendale.

“I am excited about this new chapter in my life. I am confident my experience with other nonprofits will be an asset to the Society.” Kibler stated. “I am looking forward to meeting all the volunteers and members that are the heartbeat of the organization.”

The Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village are part of the Freeborn County Historical Society, a non‐profit educational and cultural institution established in 1948. Initially, rooms in the basement of the courthouse were used for collection storage. During the late 1950s, the log cabin and schoolhouse were moved into place as the Village was formed. In 1961, a school tour was given to students at the Fairgrounds location and the courthouse rooms. Construction of the Museum building began in 1965. The Society collects, preserves and tells the story of Freeborn County’s past through museum exhibits, research, collections, tours, and educational programs.
